Only After Hanging Up The Phone Did I Remember That “Pinata,” “Polygraph” and “Parcheesi” Also Begin With The Letter P

June 28th, 2005

I realized how tired I was this morning when, during a conversation with one of our clinic managers, I was attempting to articulate the name of a certain person, and so to help with the spelling and enunciation, and to combat the apparent static on the phone line causing confusion regarding just which letter began the person’s last name, I loudly and slowly clarified: “No, not ‘t’ as in taco. ‘P’, as in “poop.”

I didn’t even fully realize I had made reference to a bowel movement to clarify a provider’s name until the recipient of my “clarification” laughed aloud, and the co-worker who first looked at me with disbelief, and then with pride, also started giggling.

You poop. We poop. I poop. She poops. We all read “Everyone Poops,” and then feel an incontrovertible urge to make reference to the brown stuff the next week at work.
