Go Syphillis, er, I mean: Columbus!

Does anyone else think it strange our nation has set aside a day to celebrate Columbus stumbling upon Cuba and eradicating an entire indigenous population?
I mean, I’m all for our postal and bank employees getting an extended weekend, but come on, we could at least celebrate something more legitimate. Like the start of global warming.
