Ode To My Mother

After spending all Sunday afternoon planting my Momma’s flower beds, in what has been the hottest May weekend yet.

“Ooh, Honey, the back of your neck is fried. Yikes. That’s probably going to hurt later.”

“I thought it felt hot. I completely forgot to put sunblock there.”

The strong, intelligent and wonderfully silly woman whose eyes match mine giggles at the mere thought of her impending joke. I look at her expectantly, a smile spreading across my face.

“Now you’re a redneck.”

I love my Mom.

    And Hans, that is the plan. You know, someday. If they aren’t good-looking, we are throwing them back. (KIDDING. Because what parent doesn’t think their child is the most beautiful on the planet? )
