Oh, My, My. Oh, Hell, Yes.
The last time I saw Petty live, I was hundreds of feet away from him. I couldn’t see the lines of his face, couldn’t tell what kind of guitar he was playing, couldn’t see the color of his jacket. The only reason I knew he was wearing a jacket that particular show was because it was literally covered in sequins, or quite possibly diamonds, and accordingly, it was blinding those of us watching from the hill just beyond the main walkway that stretches through the middle of The Gorge.
This time, Chris got serious with the ticket-purchasing, and on Tuesday we were sitting dead-center, on the main floor, close enough to watch Petty’s nostrils flare with every strum of his guitar.

And also! look! Stevie Nicks!

Petty opened with Listen to Her Heart, one of my all-time favorites, and finished his encore with American Girl, and in between I didn’t sit still for a second. In fact, I didn’t sit at all.
I did almost fall over a few times, and probably soiled myself in the sheer excitement of it all, but was too busy dancing and singing myself hoarse to notice, yelling mostly incoherent phrases of appreciation in Chris’ general vicinity, because, did I mention? FLOOR SEATS, and telling him more than once that I love him even more than I love Petty.

sounds like a great time. as to chris, i think you should keep him [but you know that already, so...] *smooches* :)
He looks rather, um, old? Ah well, glad you had a blast!! :)
I saw him when I was in high school, and it was hands down the best concert I’ve ever been to. I lurve him! :)
I’ve had floor seats at a couple of different concerts. For some reason whenever I’m that close it doesn’t matter who it is; I’ll be having a good time.
I love me some Stevie Nicks!
You lucky B you!!!
Looks like it was a great concert !
damn, I’m jealous….I love Petty and Stevie Nicks! sounds like a great time!
That reminds me…I didn’t do my Stevie Nicks/White Wing Dove dance for y’all in San Jose. Oh well, gotta save something for the encore.
I love that you were close enough to bring us these pics, which, by the way, are AWESOME. Dude. I’m so jealous of you right now!
Oh, my, my. Oh, hell, yes that was a brilliant blog title.
My favorite Tom Petty moment of all time was when he was interviewed on some “100 best songs” type of countdown show. They asked him about Free Fallin’, which had made it on the list. I can’t really explain his response in the little room I have in this comment box, but to sum up, he appeared to have no idea that it was his song in the first place. He did enthusiastically say that he liked it, however.
At any rate: awesome that you got to go!
Awesome show! Sounds like you had great seats, too.
wha? I look green? no, I’m not sick - no, I’m not ill, really… I’M JUST FRICKIN’ GREEEN WITH ENVY!!!! next time, will you take me with you, in your pocket!?!
….ahhhh, to watch Petty’s nostrils flare….
Damn your pictures look awesome. Now I have to go listen to Last Dance With Mary Jane and Edge Of Seventeen. Thanks a lot ;)
Hurrah!
He is so nice! Ah I am so happy! I expect many Cute Couple anecdotes (if only to distract the blogosphere from my recent vagina post…)

Rock. I love Stevie Nicks so much, I would have passed out.
I continue to e-mail you diligently. And you continue to e-mail me asking where I am. And I am like “Here! Here! I’m right here!” and then your next e-mail is like, “DUDE WHERE ARE YOU?”
HERE! HERE I SAID!
I refuse to send you any more longwinded e-mails until gmail sends me a written apology. It’s eaten like four thousand of my words so far. And they were FASCINATING words, too, or so I can say, since you didn’t get the e-mails anyway and I can spin this however I like.
HERE!
Yes, I am indeed one lucky B (that was awesome, KimmyK), and the concert was indeed AWESOME. Oh, and Anne, you are correct: he looked a bit like Skeletor in my opinion. But man, can that guy still rock.
Chantel, you are rad. Clearly. But yes, floor seats are the key to an automatic good time. I once watched Garth Brooks (don’t judge me) from a wee corner in the back of the arena, and had a good time, though, just because of the drunk overall-wearing, wheat-chewing, beer-drinking folk surrounding us. ; )
C, he played BOTH of those. Love! Last Dance….
SCHNOZZ! I have found them! I think! Gmail archived them! Or something! I was entirely! confused and using many exclamation points of pissy-ness! until I found them! And now I am thinking that I should just email you! You know, after I request Gmail sing you an apology, and bring you chocolate.
Holy crap…how very exciting!
Wow! How awesome is that?!?!
