The Irony Is Not Lost On Me
I’m not quite sure when The GreatWhiteWet started falling, but I know it’s been going strong for hours, and doesn’t look to stop any time soon. We were set to have “rain” for the next five days, but it’s beginning to look (a lot like Christmas…) like the frigid temperatures have altered that forecast ever so slightly. If it sticks, I promise to throw a snowball or three for all of you who get down with Le Snow. I might even make a snow angel. Just one. And only if I can somehow accomplish said snowy task without taking some GreatWhiteWet down my neck/back/shirt. Yeah, I know. That looks to be nearly impossible, and therein lies the challenge. Or the ridiculousness. Either way, I’m totally IN. I love myself a (snow-laden) challenge. Or maybe I’m just making that up. Either way, I’ll have Chris take pictures of any snow angel attempts, if nothing else but to document how a person can look simultaneously freezing and irrationally scared of potential snow creepage.

In other non-related to snow news, a GINORMOUS thanks to the lovely Gina, for sending me what is quite possibly the coolest thing I have ever spontaneously received in the mail from Brazil. It is quite possibly the ONLY thing I have ever spontaneously received in the mail from Brazil, but that in no way diminishes how thankful I am to receive it, and how wonderful and beautiful and unique it is. Behold:

Thanks! again Gina. You’re awesome.

That’s awesome! What is it?
if you keep using the word “frigid” to describe things, people (and by people i mean mostly me) are going to get the wrong idea.
i am, of course, joking.
and i do, of course and always, love you.
Oh I am scared of the snow. I am. I have never lived where it snows and the idea of driving or doing anything in the snow (except skiing badly) freaks me out.
Whoops; I didn’t realize until just now that it’s sort of hard to see what, exactly, it IS. My picture of it is really less than stellar. I didn’t mean for the top to be so dark, but I couldn’t really get a great shot of it. Anyway: It’s a piece of cloth with that design drawn/painted/something? on it. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure WHAT it is, but it’s gorgeous, and really detailed. I’m assuming you frame it. Or hang it in some fashion.
I’ve been reading through bloglines for so long that I haven’t seen your new layout until just now. It’s beautiful! I love it! :)
(And I hate snow!)
The current state of my greatwhitewet is minimal. Not quite enough for throwing snowballs or making any nifty angels. But I’m not too worried. Soon enough we will have plenty! :) Enjoy it for me in the meanwhile!
snow!?!?!? already??!?! I’m envious!
Hi Kerri! I’m so glad you to the “thing” which is called a batik (except here it’s pronounced “ba-cheeky”. You can mount it, frame it, hang it, do anything you want with it. I’m SO glad you like it!! Brazilian art rocks. (And I’m so glad you finally got it! I was really nervous it had gotten lost. True story: I woke up with that thought on my mind just today. So I’m glad I can sleep soundly now.) :-)
Look at you! Miss Fancy!! I love it!! :)
(If you did this ages ago, don’t hate me. I can only catch up on weekends most of the time. I still heart you!!!)
Snow??? I’m so jealous! If we get one day of snow here in Texas we’ll be lucky. And it probably won’t even stick.
(Me, too Sam.) And I love YOURS. But I think I may have said that a few hundred times already. The socks!
Anne, Ang and WG, I hereby bestow all of our snow upon you. Feel free to collect your prize at any time. :)
Thanks! Gina. A batik! Yes! I remember now; I have seen one before! Only because a good friend of mine spent a semester in Africa and came home with tons of them. She has one the size of wall hanging in her room. :)
Anya, I totally understand, and anyway, I just launched the re-design yesterday! You’re right on time. :) And, also: Love you, too. xoxo
Wha? Huh? Where?!!!! We didn’t get ANY of that here!!! WWWAAAAAAA!!!!!
Throw a snowball or two for me. All of ours melted in minutes, but as Anne said, it’ll be here soon enough.
Your gift is beautiful!
