To Have And To Hold, From This Day Forward
This past Saturday my good friend Krissy married her knight in shining tuxedo at The Glover Mansion in a beautiful orchid-laden outdoor ceremony. Their chosen pastor wore a faded black cowboy hat complete with a feather and cross adornment, and officiated brilliantly. He then promptly departed on a motorcycle (further enhancing his awesomeness), but not before revving his hog so as to get this party started. Or, so as to alert the entire neighborhood that a bunch of bikers were in town, so lock up your daughters and your chihuahuas.* My only regret is that he didn’t stick around long enough for the myriad photo ops I had already pre-planned in my head. And boy howdy! would there have been myriad.
As a bonus to the already bliss-laden festivities I enjoyed (catching the bouquet! dancing to Footloose, and more than one Grease montage, and, of course, Old Time Rock And Roll–That kind of music just soothes the soul, you know?–yes! and also) the most delicious salad ever created by human hands.
The location was serene, and the weather ideal. The groom was both nervous and giddy, and the bride never stopped beaming the entire day. Not once.
Happy! Wedding Kris & Ian. You (and that salad) are so loved.
* I have no idea.

These are my parents. My momma has been BFF with the bride’s momma since I first met her, freshman year of high school.

Did catching the bouquet involve elbowing a few of the bridesmaids and a small child? I’ve never actually tried, but I suspect that injuries would ensue if I ever attempted it.
Lovely photos, by the way.

She actually cheated and threw it right to me. On purpose. I just had to prove that I wasn’t completely uncoordinated, and catch it. Which, voila! I actually turned around almost immediately and handed it to the smallest child I could find. She happened to be eight, and was thrilled. I was considering elbowing her, for good measure, but, alas, did not.
One of my cousins DID have her toe broken by another, heel-wearing cousin, during a bouquet toss years ago, though. It was sort of awesome. Especially because the cousin that broke her toe, was all, “Yeah, so what? This is like my eighth broken toe.”
Absolutely stunning pictures! And that salad is making me hungry and it’s barely even breakfast time.

I could eat that salad for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was THAT good.I could eat that salad for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was THAT good.
How awesome! I love the photos that Chris took, very POW in your face.

His are my favorite, too. He’s an awesome photographer.
I love the Glover Mansion. I have some GREAT memories of that place.
Great job on the photos!
———–
I had never been there; It was really great. Small and old-timey and gorgeous. It felt like a little haven right in the middle of the city.
Beautiful pictures, both of you. And I love the little nooky area in that place from whence she shrew the bouquet!
I was at a wedding on Saturday too. Aren’t weddings wonderful?
—————
They are! indeed. And, thanks! The nook was awesome. I tried to get a good shot of the ceiling, but the lighting wasn’t great. It was this interesting blue, with peacocks! everywhere.
sweet photos! tis the season for the nuptial goodness.

Thank! you. It ’tis, indeed. I love weddings. They are sheer, taffeta-centered entertainment at its best.
I’ll confess, I was kind of skimming the first few paragraphs in anticipation of the photos. But skimming can be dangerous. See, I read, “But not before revving his hot do so as to get the party started.” And I was a little disturbed. Then I slowly reread it. Revving your hog? That’s fine. Revving your hot dog? Pretty sketchy.
————-
You skimmer! I do that ALL the time. Skim and then read something ridiculous(ly awesome). Like, for example, “revving your hot dog.” Which, he could have done, although I wasn’t around to see it. Perhaps thankfully. And now I don’t even know what I’m really talking about.
hey, we were at a wedding too on that day = our seventh anniversary. it was a good day for a wedding. your pictures are great. my favorite is definitely the “MildlyExcited”. she looks so happy :)
Great pics - the bride is most definitely beaming. :) And Chris with the flower? Too cute!
In other news - I tried that Anagram thing…
My full name can be re-arranged as:
Run young kitten, celebrate!

My anagrams were not nearly so awesome as “Run young kitten, celebrate!” In fact mine were mostly nonsensical.
happy day for your friend.
happy salad for you. wow. I should probably try to refrain from attempting salad consumption through my computer screen. I bumped my nose going after the photo of yours.
ouch.

It’s completely understandable. I wanted to lick my (very) empty plate for hours afterward. I might have, had thewait-staff not hastily removed it from my sight. Hosers.
