Survey Says
Yesterday I asked for, and thus received, wonderful feedback on the previous color schemes (myriad shades of pink and purple for those just joining, or for those of you like that one guy, in that one movie, who merely dabbles in short-term memory) and the current design and lay out of kerrianne.org. (Thank! you, so much.)
I found myself pouring over your comments rich with ideas and suggestions, and yes, even a bit of much appreciated head-patting, and I also found myself heartily agreeing with most everything that was suggested, especially the part about the column width ratios, because: WORD, and believe me when I prematurely announce that a major site overhaul is currently occupying a sacred place on the very crowded back burner of one extremely capable and talented designer who I am lucky enough to boss around call he who shall not be named my husband.
As soon as he unearths himself from The Deadlines, Oh The Deadlines, he is fully expected to completely redesign my site going to be handed a very much deserved beer or threven, and then, after he no longer speaks to me in code, we will do something about those pesky column widths. Seriously, now that you’ve all mentioned it, I am like a blind person having recently been given sight, who goes around bemoaning how ill-tailored all the men’s suits look, or how that pattern? Honey, it just does not go with that skirt. In short, it’s driving me a wee bit NUTS and I’m very much looking forward to squashing one of those columns into oblivion, amen.
Until then, please to enjoy (I imagine Joel McHale’s voice every time I hear, write, or say that): the very beachy kerrianne.org. Or so I think; it reminds me of this, or this, or perhaps this.
The purple and pink look was growing on me, but ultimately I’m a blue, brown, and green girl myself. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some purple and pink in the right places, at the right times, especially if we are talking scarves, and jewelry, and the dress I wore to Junior year Homecoming.
For those of you who have yet to weigh in, the lines are perpetually open. I am quite loving The Feedback, positive or “Girl, that be some spectacular shade of fugly.” It’s definitely helping me process the many thoughts that were already swirling about in my brain about the look and feel of everything around here, and I am endlessly appreciative of the break from bantering back and forth with myself about it. Until yesterday, I had convinced myself that little graphics of Iggy would be the best bet. No other content, really, just little graphics of Iggy, that bark and sniff, and poop under your chair when you’re not paying attention.

Ooh ooh ooh, I love this one best! It’s very serene and calming :) But why is the dot.org in a different font and color?
My gut reaction is that I like this yellow/blue thing better than the purple/peach. And tru dat to the column width thing you’re addressing. Overall, I like!
I’m late to the party, but I really liked the peachish/purplish color scheme, and I’m definitely not a peach/purple kind of gal.
However, I totally LOVE the new look. Blue and green are my two favorite colors.
I hear you on the column width woes. I hate having to only post pictures that are 500 pixels wide. But I’m way too lazy to do anything about it.
When presented with a choice, I ALWAYS go with blue and green. Those are my favorite colors of all time. :) Very pretty!
how funny, i was just thinking i need a redesign. only my husband knows nothing about interweb designing. he is not usefull that way. but he has other talents. like he gets up and gives the kids their breakfast every day while i take my time coming downstairs. don’t ever let him know that i think he is getting ripped off re same.
Random comment…I clicked on your ‘nothing button’ and guess what? I got nothing.
Ha!!
Yes, I like this.

Thank! you.
This is one tops, too!
It’s funny, I turn into a happy little vegemite when I’m at your site. It must be you. :P

OK, so you just complimented my new design while simultaneously teaching me Australian slang. So awesome.
Dig it. I’m redesigning my bedroom, all beachy-fied as well. My bedroom and your blog will be sisters. The sizes of the three columns are currently not working as well as the awesomeness of the color scheme. Ditch one of the columns if you like or have your slave-designer re-imagine page layout. Make sure you have some ice cream. That’s all I’ve got for the moment. Okay, I’ve also got some organic chocolate Ben & Jerry’s, and believe me I’d share with you if I had the teleporter that Heather Anne ordered from EBay, but I don’t. So we’ll have to just talk design for the moment. xoxo

Can I just say that I love your comments? OK, then.
So cool… I hadn’t been here in a while and first thing when I clicked to your site I thought, “Ooooh, pretty new look.” Then I found these posts about your wanting feedback and worrying about it! It’s really nice - you know what one of my fave things about your site is, though, and it’s nothing to do with your design. I love your creative categories. (Or I should say kerragories)! :) Anyway, I was wondering if you’ve saved screenshots of all former incarnations of your blog designs so I can compare? I missed the pink/purple one. :(
GRAPHICS OF MOLLY! Oh holy hell, you’ve changed my life. And hers, I assume.
Thank you for being kind to purple. We all know my stance on it, but this palette is just lovely too.
Also, can’t wait for the redesign. I really think I should have looked for different qualities in Mike. Sure, he’s got one helluva sense of humor and he PUTS UP WITH ME but the man knows not a thing about CSS. And, although we’re married and I’m a bit out of luck NOW, it seems like that should be quite the deal breaker, no?
