Sneak Peek Sunday: Southern Meals, Or: Why We Are Running Back To The Gym When We Get Home

As a Sneak Peek Sunday bonus! I bring you: some Mobile, Alabama trivia, for those hard to start dinner party conversations, or those awkward moments around the water jug at work, where, in my work experience, no one really stands to chat anyway:
- Jimmy Buffet was (born in Mississippi and) raised in Mobile, Alabama, where eventually he graduated from high school and married his first wife.
- Mobile, Alabama is the birthplace of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
- The first ever Mardi Gras parades (dating back to 1703) were held in Mobile.
- Mobile is the only seaport in all of Alabama, and the 11th largest by cargo in the United States.
- Bellingrath Gardens is located on Fowl River and contains 65 acres of landscaped gardens and a 10,500 sq ft mansion dating to the 1930s. (It’s beautiful. But, also: bugs!)
- Mobile’s Press-Register is Alabama’s oldest active newspaper, dating back to 1813.
Here’s to Sundays, random! trivia, and salads.

That’s quite a lunch! But it certainly sounds good! :)
Now I want seafood. :)
YUM! I’m just pretending there is no seafood there because I am a big giant wimp who doesn’t like it, but the rest of it looks goooooood.
Sweet tea. heaven!
might i say, you have very nice penmanship!
And for those interested, it’s where my dad was born.
I cannot currently tell you how jealous i am. Sweet tea! Fried Okra! My dreams are full of these things!
…how much longer til I can go home to the South? Four months? I might not survive.
