Wherein I Pledge My Allegiance To Bossy’s Excellent Road Trip, And Terminator Stout

April 14th, 2008

April is fast becoming the month wherein we play host and hostess with the most-est, as many times have glorious! friends visited (Hi! Jen; Hi! Roth; Hi! Bossy) and/or been scheduled to visit (Hi! Grant) in the past three weeks.

Before the dawn of April our first long-time bloggy friend (Oh hai! Jenn-ay) visited from Boston, and I’ve come to the conclusion since then that (my bloggy friends are awesome, yes! and) had I known Portland was going to be so fantastic for my social life, I would have moved here years ago. Which is not entirely true, as I TRIED to move to Portland years ago, but failed, and well, the list of pre-move follies is long and undistinguished, and, as usual, I digress.

I’m such a big fan of all of my bloggy friends, and Bossy was no exception. Mostly because she is every bit as rad as her site, and her hilarious writing, suggests she would be, and also: she has great hair. Chris must think so, too, because at some point during dinner he ended up taking a perfect shot of it, which was probably a serendipitous accident, but it’s more entertaining to pretend it was premeditated:

photo by Chris, who used to religiously watch “Blow Out” on Bravo*

Her goldilocks reminded me of another bloggy friend’s fantastic hair, not insomuch the “goldi” part, but in the afore-pictured “curly” part:
Not pictured: Chantel’s super cute shoes.

Sunday night after Bossy drove up from Eugene we went to dinner at The Kennedy School (literally an old elementary school transformed into a restaurant/hotel with random bars placed throughout), an eclectically amazing venue I had never previously visited, wherein we met the previously pictured fantastically curly-haired Chantel, and other interesting and wonderful bloggers alike, who I didn’t photograph (They escaped! Ha!) because I am not smart enough to remember to charge camera batteries before attempting to take a million and one pictures.

I do like these three, which were all taken by Chris, who, as I previously mentioned, is Jonathan Antin’s biggest fan*:

While everyone was at dinner, I completely forgot that I have been reduced to a woman who carries a felt mustache in her purse at all times, but made up for lost time later that night, when I told Bossy the abridged story of The Sisterhood Of The Traveling ‘Stache, and convinced her to play along, even though I’m pretty sure she had no idea what was so entertaining, and can’t she just go to bed already?

Welcome to the Hotel CaliJernigan, where you can always find a place to rest your head, but not before donning a felt mustache.

When we awoke this morning a note was resting where once a Bossy had been, as she was onto the next leg of her fantastic voyage, and is far more adept at late to bedding and early to rising than we will ever be:

We think Bossy is pretty amazing people, too.

*A little something I like to call “Creative License,” which in this case is code for “blatantly telling white hair-laden lies, because it’s funny how much your husband dislikes Jonathan Antin.” Which is strange because he LOVES Jonathan Antin’s sister. (Again with the “Creative License.” Ahem.)

Last time I heard about Bossy she was in Florida. Maybe I should actually just read her. :)

The Kennedy School kicks ass. That’s where a bunch of bloggers met last March for TequilaCon. The rooms are so cool!

I agree, Bossy is a gracious beautiful woman. I was excited to meet her and as well to hang out with you two who are equally gracious; not to be confused with graceful. (which you are not).

Thanks for taking that extra 20 pounds off my cheeks I appreciate it.

    XOXOXO

dude, DUDE. those tots - McMenamin’s tots are LEGEND.

I have chomped on many baskets in a drunken haze. and it has been declared awfully good.

and KERRI, welcome to your newest stalker. I told my husband he would just have to manage sharing me with the hedge nearest your apartment window. for thou art the beautifulest by far, my lady du cute (and your husband, Chris, is equally delightful, but I probably won’t be wasting much binocular time on him, if you don’t mind).

    (hi! it’s me! *waves*)

She does have amazing hair. But then, so do you, miss SEXY SWOOPY BANGS. Also, I went to the Kennedy School when i was in Portland (and you were in the dang SOUTH), and I hereby declare it the locale of serendipitous meetings. For reasons too long for this comment. But next time I’m in Portland, I’m for SURE meeting you. Maybe even there. Here ends this rambly drunken comment.

Me and Bossy shared a bed! DIRTY (and totally exaggerated). Well I mean we did both use it …. she just used it like a whole MONTH after me. I’m sure that makes her feel special.
