Portrait Of A Road-Tripping Threesome

August 29th, 2008

Happy! Labor day weekend, all. Don’t do anything too laborious, lest you be shunned by the Monday Holiday Making Committee Of Highness.

——————————

I know I have remained mostly mum on political happenings and my feelings about said political happenings on this site, but with all the political news swirling about today with regard to McCain’s “surprise” choice in a VP candidate, I was drawn to this particular article, and these two particular paragraphs:

Palin a first-term governor of a state with more reindeer than people, will have to put on a few pounds just to be a lightweight. Her personal story is impressive: former fisherman, mother of five. But that hardly qualifies her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

For a man who is 72 years old and has had four bouts with cancer to have chosen someone so completely unqualified to become president is shockingly irresponsible. Suddenly, McCain’s age and health become central issues in the campaign, as does his judgment.”

Here’s to Obama/Biden.

Amen. It’s pandering to women voters and Hillary supporters, and it assumes that we do not care about health care, women’s rights, the economy, or anything else as long as we are able to vote for a woman. Gross.

I just got finished reading Obama’s speech, and MAN. No words. I so so SO want this man to be president it hurts, and I am having such a hard time fathoming how one could vote against him after that speech. I am totally looking forward to having a president I can like and respect. I hate being embarrassed by my country.

It does raise questions but sadly, I do not think it will sway people who are already in McCain’s camp to change their mind. Hopefully those on the fence will think long and hard about the future of America. Not because it could be in the hands of a fairly inexperienced politician if McCain’s health failed but for what both of them stand for.

While I am sad that I won’t see you guys this weekend, I really hope you (three!) have a great trip!

Right on! Although lol about Alaska having more Reindeer than people — Hänni will no doubt smack me for laughing.

    Enjoy your weekend!

The only reason I’ve heard of Palin is because there was a Vogue article about her last year. She sounded of sort of awesome then, but I’ve been reading some scary stuff today. Either way, the fact that it is a woman is great. Something new will happen in November historically at least.

    Have a great trip, dear!

I’ve been glued to the TV this week, listening to all the speeches - Michelle Obama’s, Hillary Clinton’s, Bill Clinton’s, Joe Biden’s and last but not least Barack Obama’s - and I do NOT understand how you could not want to vote for him! He’s the man!

I often don’t like smear campaigns because of the negativity surrounding them but when you’re CREATIVE about them and FUNNY — well, then, I just have to raise my Obama sign and shake it proudly. Go big, O!

    hAVE an excellent trip!
